MetaRuby.com is looking for a new admin!

Hi all :slight_smile:

Firstly I have to apologise for my lack of activity here on MetaRuby. Ever since getting into Elixir, and setting up elixirforum.com it has taken up so much of my time that I’ve only been able to log in here periodically… @danielpclark, @Ohm and @kofno and many of you have been doing a great job in my absence tho! Thank you! :heart:

Unfortunately my lack of free time means I am regrettably unable to continue administrating MetaRuby effectively and so would love to find someone who is passionate about Ruby to take over the forum. I will transfer the domain, the database and the rights to use the logo to you (completely free of course) :slight_smile:

All I ask is that you are passionate about Ruby, that you will honour our Mission Statement and the Ruby Code of Conduct and that the name/domain is only used for a forum (and that you will try to find someone passionate about Ruby to take over if you ever find yourself in a position where you can’t yourself, as well as a few other minor things, like honouring our policy of allowing users to delete any threads of a personal nature, etc).

You will need access to a host that can host a Docker site (they start from as little as $5 p/m I think) and obviously there will be the domain registration costs (usually about $10 a year).

If there is nobody who wishes to take over the forum within two weeks of this notice, I will do my best to archive all the threads and put them up at the same domain in plain html - so hopefully none of your posts will be lost :smiley:

If you are interested in this, please PM me to let me know, and I’m sorry once again for not being able to spend more time here, but I’m sure you’ll all agree it would be better if the forum goes to someone who has the time to do it justice :003:

Thank you all once again for being a part of this lovely community - you rock! :hearts::orange_heart::blue_heart::purple_heart::yellow_heart::hearts:

Hi @AstonJ

I am more than willing to take over maintaining this site as well as honouring the Mission Statement and Ruby Code of Conduct.

Let me know, how to set things up on my own host as well as transferring the domain.

Cheers
@Ohm
